Jahangirnagar University

Jahangirnagar University is one of the leading public universities in Bangladesh, located in Savar, about 30 kilometres from the capital city, Dhaka. Established in 1970, it is the only fully residential public university in the country, where most students live in on-campus halls. The university is well known for its scenic natural beauty, serene environment and diverse wildlife, particularly its migratory birds that visit the campus lakes during winter.

Jahangirnagar University offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across a wide range of disciplines, including arts and humanities, social sciences, biological sciences, physical sciences, business studies and law. The university has several faculties and institutes that contribute significantly to academic research and national development. Its Department of Drama and Dramatics and Department of Environmental Sciences are especially recognised for their contributions.
