The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has announced admission for its postgraduate programmes for the October 2025 semester. Interested candidates can apply for a range of programmes including PhD, MPhil, Master’s, and postgraduate diploma across multiple disciplines.
According to the official notice (No: PG/Admission/October2025/8191) issued on 25 April 2026, applications are now open through the university’s online portal.
Applicants can submit their applications via the official website from 25 April 2026 (3:00pm) until 2 May 2026 (11:59pm). The deadline for application fee submission is 3 May 2026. The application fee has been set at Tk 500, excluding applicable online processing charges.
The university is offering Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in a wide range of departments, including Architecture and major engineering disciplines such as Chemical, Civil, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE), and Mechanical Engineering. In addition, opportunities are available in fundamental sciences including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, along with specialised institutes such as the Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM) and the Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT).
MPhil programmes are available in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Master’s programmes—including MSc Engineering, MEngg, MSc, Master of Architecture, and MS Architecture—are being offered across engineering faculties and specialised centres such as the Institute of Appropriate Technology (IAT), BUET-Japan Institute of Disaster Prevention and Urban Safety (JIDPUS), and the Accident Research Institute (ARI).
A postgraduate diploma in Business IT is also being offered under IICT.
To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.50 out of 5.00 (or first division) in either SSC or HSC examinations. However, no GPA below 2.00 or third division is acceptable in these stages. Candidates must also have at least 50% marks or a minimum GPA of 2.50 out of 4.00 in their bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
For PhD applicants, a minimum GPA of 2.75 out of 4.00 in the master’s degree is required. Certain departments may also require specific prerequisite courses depending on the discipline.
Applicants must complete the application process online by filling out the prescribed form and uploading all necessary documents. These include certificates and transcripts of all public examinations, a testimonial from the last attended institution, and a recent digital photograph.
Candidates currently employed in full-time or part-time roles are required to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer. In such cases, applications must also be processed through the respective employer.
The selection process will be conducted by the respective departments or institutes and may vary depending on the programme.

The university has stated that incomplete applications or submissions via postal services will not be accepted. Furthermore, degrees obtained from institutions other than BUET will be subject to equivalence approval by the university authorities.
